The City of Pécs joined the WHO European Healthy Cities Network as one of its founding members in 1988. Since 1991 the Healthy City Foundation of Pécs has been responsible for the Healthy Cities Project in Pécs. Strategic decisions and plans are made by the intersectoral steering committee.
The Healthy City Foundation of Pécs is also the centre of the Hungarian National Network of Healthy Cities: Healthy Cities Association in the Carpathian basin.
